This was a collaborative project with Fionn Mac Con Dhuibh where he created an original hilt design in clay and created the blades of brass. The final decorative bodice dagger was cast in pewter around the brass.
It was a bit of an engineering to come up with a way to secure the blade within the silicone mold so that the molten pewter could be poured around the blade tang.
The design incorporated oak leaves and thistle motif. The original was carved in clay, molded cast in plaster, cleaned and then cast in pewter.
Asa bit of added whimsy- I also created a mold out of food safe silicone and used extra wide popsicle sticks as a blade and created several chocolate bodice dagger pops.
