Yasemin Bint Al-Hajjar – Order of the Silver Brooch

June 2019

To celebrate the occasion of my apprentice sibling’s invitation into the Order of the Silver Brooch, I had the pleasure to make her symbol of the order.
Instead of a medallion I made for her an arm band with a small piercework enameled brooch.
I was unable to make the event in-person where the award was presented, but seeing the photos with her proudly displaying her scroll and armband helped me feel a little closer.

This was one of the smallest detail pieces I had attempted and it challenged my skills with a Jeweler’s saw and enamel work. Vitreous, torch-fired enamel.

Then there were added challenges of working with brass solder, which I learned is a different animal from previous solder works with silver or copper.
