Baronial Diadem for Catriona bean mhic Cailin

October 2021

I like being able to make people artifacts to display the recognition they receive in our Society. It is one of my favorite things and why so many of my projects are awards or tokens.

I was given the opportunity to make coronets for a couple of the most fun, engaging, friends I have had a chance to meet through the SCA to be presented at the time of their recognition and I am so happy with the way they came out.

For the diadem of Catriona bean mhic Cailin known best as Cat, I wanted to use her arms as a source of inspiration, and pulled in to maintain a “nautical” theme including elements of the wave boarder, the mermaid, and the central gem being a dyed Paua shell. The purple also being inspired by the coloring on her arms. The Wolves are white vitreous enamel. The “pearls” are opals.
